The SimExchange updates

Hot off the press from The SimExchange is their latest newsletter, which includes a nifty new widget that we think is just cool.

Easier trading

We have made the basic trading mode easier. Simply enter the number of shares you want to buy or sell and click the button. The system will fill your whole order. You no longer have to enter the currently available quantity over and over again.

New listings

We’ve listed some big titles like Gears of War 2.

Be sure to make your predictions for upcoming titles like Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (Xbox 360).

Remember to bid on the games you want listed as stocks and submit the ones you don’t see on the simExchange already.

Simexchange gets a real writeup

The Simexchange, which we featured a little while back in the articles The More I digg and Simexchange November Developments has now gotten a full writeup in Yahoo News as to it’s effective prediction methods for video game sales and popularity.

As you may know, the Simexchange allows players to buy and sell shares based on a upcoming or current release video games’ potential popularity. Back in August last year, the Simexchange came to the attention of the big guns when it fairly accurately simulated the runaway sales of the game Bioshock from Take-Two interactive.

The Simexchange’s developer, Brian Shiau based his exchange off the book The Wisdom of Crowds which came out in 2004. And the Simexchange itself was released to the internet in November 2006. It now boasts more than 8,000 active members.

Follow this link for the Yahoo! writeup

Well done Brian and the Simexchange.

We have been lax here at Allstocks. With the US Political Engine in full force, Intrade has crept up and is offering a prediction market that is being drawn from by portals such as Yahoo! and which allows players to vote on who they think will be the front runners for the Democrats and the Republican presidential candidates.

Sharp eyed simulation players will note that the intrade website is suffering heavy lag currently due to the traffic it’s coping with; hopefully they will resolve this soon.

We’ll keep you posted as this new range for prediction markets continues to unfold.

Jitterfingers is updated

We’ve just completed the version 2.0 upgrade to the Star Sizzle Meter, which is our runtime install loaded onto the jitterfingers social network for Tween and Teen girls. This upgrade converted the entire game into an ajax script so it all loads and runs in one iframed page, with all the voting and buy/sell modules inline within that one page, a very slick looking setup.

The upgrade also included inline gallery previews using flash as well as automatic page refreshes so everything became fully dynamic. A demo link is now available through the Stocks Online Engine link on our site for viewing so the functionality can be explored.

We are now in the process of converting our other installs over to the new system so we can be fully upgraded to the V2 engine.
