StocksOnline is the name of the php application that runs the TV Stocks Online webgame. Built inhouse by Shaun Streeter under exclusive license to Morristreet, StocksOnline runs on a php backbone linked to a mysql database for maximum performance.
Main features of the application are
- Admin interface for back-end configuration and day-to-day system administration
- Initial stock variables include; Stock symbol, name, brief description, detailed description, IPO price, hold price, total stocks available, total stocks available per player, advertising.
- Admin features include date dependant hold, cash-out option for hold, IPO date setting, Unhold option for variable stocks, Price change option for stocks on hold, Stock name change and/or transfer.
- Initial player starting funds are changeable at any time, to give a boost to incoming players once a market has been established.
- Interest rate on unused cash is adjustable
- Stock prices can be adjusted by outside elements, such as Neilsen ratings adjusting tv show values, or can be left to a strict user interaction system that allows for buyer and seller to directly influence stock pricing.
- The system has a predictive element that can be activated, and if active, it will check the current trends and weight the stock values, including making internal trades to keep an active stock functional to ensure maximum playability of the system.
- System makes use of a runtime cron process, but can operate on servers that do not allow cron processes to run.
- System is fully CSS compliant and also Ajax compliant
- Customizable input modules to switch from currency based systems to value-based such as a voting system for popularity.
- Ajax Stock ticker that is customizable for display of info such as ticker symbol, stock name, current price, trading volume, trade direction, etc.
- Iframe modules are available for blogs and other user adjustable systems that display the ticker, individual stock entries, or the player’s current portfolio.
- Interlinkable with other database systems such as Oracle.
- Integrated RSS reader and interpeter. The system can read input from different RSS feeds and search them for content to link to stocks, thus allowing for a popularity based stock price adjustment.

Our second runtime application is now live on the jitterfingers social networking platform. This modified engine is being used for a Celebrity Popularity index or the Jitterfingers Star Sizzle Meter.
